9 Days Kilimanjaro Northern Circuit Route

Tour Overview

The Northern Circuit Route is Kilimanjaro’s newest and longest trail, offering the most complete journey around the mountain. Known for its exceptional acclimatization profile and breathtaking scenery, this route circles the northern slopes, far away from the busier southern trails. It provides trekkers with solitude, diverse landscapes, and panoramic views of both Tanzania and Kenya.

The 9-day version includes an extra acclimatization day, giving trekkers the best possible chance of reaching the summit. Over nine days, you’ll traverse rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and icy summit slopes. Highlights include crossing the Shira Plateau, tackling the dramatic Barranco Wall, and experiencing the remote northern wilderness. With more days for acclimatization, the Northern Circuit boasts one of the highest summit success rates of all Kilimanjaro routes. The final push to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) is unforgettable — a sunrise above the clouds at the Roof of Africa.

This trek is perfect for adventurers who want a longer, less crowded, and highly rewarding climb, combining challenge with unmatched scenery.
